Yackel Dance Studio is located in Cottage Grove, MN. The owners are Denise and Beth Yackel. They are my teachers, and one of the best teachers. I might be bias, because I've been dancing there for about 11 years.
Yackel Dance Studio was opened in 1967 by Denise Yackel. The studio is on their 43 year as a studio. Denise has been teaching dance for over 43 years. I have a personal connection with her, and her daughter Beth Yackel. We are like a huge family here. And we will accept any one into our family at dance, no matter what size, shape or color you are.
Denise Yackel is a breast cancer survivor. We all watched her fight, and she fought her hardest, and now the cancer is gone. In 2009 we did a dance called "Just Stand Up" which it is a cancer song, and it was for her. Denise is one of my heroes, she's accomplished a lot. She's the best.
Beth Yackel is Denise's daughter, and she's kind of helped take over the studio, and she choreographs a lot of stuff. We've won a lot of awards from what she has helped us do as a line, and I wouldn't trade her for any other teacher. She started dancing at the age of two. She has been teaching for over ten years. I look up to her. Like I said, Yackel Dance Studio is like a family.
Denise and Beth Yackel are South Saint Paul High School graduates.
Our teachers make us to a lot of technique, ballet we do 3 or more days a week, they want a lot from us, but in a loving way. They've helped me find who I really am, and they've helped me become a better person. I am very thankful for dance.
I could never leave Yackel Dance Studio.
They are family.
